17Feb First Sunday of Lent – Bidding prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): As we begin our Lenten journey, let us remember all those in need:

  1. For the Church of God throughout the world, as the lenten pilgrimage begins (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  2. For our Holy Father Pope Benedict, as he prepares to resign as Bishop of Rome (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  3. For all the people who will be baptised this Easter time (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  4. For the poor people of the world who will benefit from our Lenten fasting (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  5. For the downhearted and discouraged who rely on our kindness (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. For those who are sick in body, mind or spirit (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

The Presider prays for the dead: ‘that, with their pilgrimage through this life over, they may reach their heavenly home ’ (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.

Then:

Conclusion (by the Presider):Lord our God, you protect those who put their trust in you: Hear the prayers we make in faith, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

One Response

  1. power of prayer

Faithful servants of God do not lose heart and continue to hope in God.
The privilege to be heard in prayer is enjoyed only by those whom God has chosen to be His own.
