02Mar ACP Leadership meeting with bishops

The leadership of the Association of Catholic Priests – Tony Flannery, Brendan Hoban and Sean McDonagh, (P.J. Madden being unavoidably absent) met with representatives of the Irish Episcopal Conference, Bishops Colm O’Reilly and John Kirby, in Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone on March 1, 2012.

The meeting, which lasted some hours, was a very open and useful exchange of views, covering a wide range of issues of mutual concern. It was agreed by all present that it was a worthwhile and productive meeting and a valuable conversation between the two parties.

It was also hoped that meetings between the ACP and the Episcopal Conference would continue, and would assist us in our mutual task of promoting the Gospel.

Wow…there’s a censored statement if ever I’ve seen one! Welcome to the new era of transparency!

How many hours is ‘some hours’?

For once I find myself agreeing with Kyle and Sean(Derry). That communiqué seems curiously lacking in words like “frank” and “robust”. Or is that just because Colm O’Reilly and John Kirby are ‘dacent fellas’?
