28Jul 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 28 July (Presider’s Page)

Opening Comment (for the presider)

We can ask God for help whenever we need to, today or any day. We gather to worship God who is always concerned for us. Penitential Rite: Let us remember our sins — and God’s healing power: (pause) Lord Jesus, you healed the sick…..

Introduction to the Scripture Readings (for Ministers of the Word)

Genesis 18: 20-32 God shows his justice as he heeds Abraham’s plea on behalf of the good minority.

Colossians 2: 12-14 The Colossians were concerned abvout Jewish laws. Paul insists that Jesus has over-ridden all the old requirements.

Luke 11: 1-13 If we pray persistently for God’s help, it will be given.

Introduction (by the Presider): Acknowledging that God always listens to our prayers, let us make our needs known.

  1. For all the members of the Church, that they may learn to rely on God’s help (pause). Lord, hear us.
  2. For those who suffer from hunger, that the food of the world may be shared (pause). Lord, hear us.
  3. For people in any kind of need here, that the kindness of friends may remind them of God’s care (pause). Lord, hear us.
  4. For our families and those we are concerned about, that God may support those who need help (pause) Lord, hear us.

The presider prays for the dead, those who died during the week (especially those killed in the Spanish rail disaster) and those whose anniversaries occur (and the person/people for whom Mass is offered) ‘that through their baptismal sharing in Christ’s power, they may be raised up (pause). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider) God of glory and majesty, you answer the prayers of those who call out to you: be with your people in their every need, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SONGS AT MASS (for Ministers of Music): Come to me; O The Love of My Lord; Céad Míle Fáilte Romhat; Be Not Afraid

  1. the sad car games guy about train accident in Spain

In this day and age you would think high speed trains would have telemetry to indicate speed and location by now. There are many ways technology could prevent such an occurrence. Sympathy for all involved.
